The Most Viewed Post of 2010! Happy New Year!!!

I have published almost four hundred posts on Three States Plus One. I considered a few of them to be pretty damn good and funny, but the most popular post of 2010 turned out to be one of, if not the easiest, non-funny posts of all 388 of them. Goes to show what I know. Sheesh. LOL
The post was written a week before Christmas and it detailed what Heather, the girls and I had planned for Christmas weekend as well as what Heather was whoopin' up in the kitchen. I think one post from early on in the life of this blog garnered a little over 200 page views. That's a real good day for Three States Plus One. As weird as it may seem, this blog is still only six months old. Anyway, the post below received almost 900 page views! Wow! Talk about knock me over with a feather! That's about half a month's traffic on one day!
Without further ado, I present to you the Most Popular Post of 2010 on Three States Plus One!
Not Heather's Stove
I hope this post finds you all well and ready for Christmas. You've got only a week to get all your shopping done and plans made for Christmas lunch or supper with your family and friends. Here at the Shoe Box (our house), we've got everything done, except for one more gift we've got to buy. The kids have their Santa Claus lists all done and Heather and I have put their orders in to Santa's Workshop. I gotta tell ya that by the time Santa arrives next week, it'll look a lot like Toys R Us in our living room.

We have plans to travel to Heather's hometown of Eastport for a visit with all the in-laws for a day or two. There will be snow on the ground as usual, but it may actually snow on Chistmas Day! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Mother Nature has in store for us. Yesterday, the weather guy said that we were due for a nor'easter late next week. That means it could dump a boat load of snow on us. For those of you in Colorado and points West, think "up slope".  If that happens, we'll just stay home. I am not too keen on being stranded along side the highway in a blizzard with two young children and a wife. I'm just sayin'.

Heather is busy in the kitchen right now and will be all day long. She's making Christmas presents for friends and family. What? Instead of buying gifts for some folks in the family, Heather gets busy cooking her homemade spaghetti sauce, which is restaurant quality by the way, cookies and homemade Whoopie Pies. It's pretty cool to watch her do what she does in the kitchen. Besides, I am the Official Quality Control Taster. All the treats Heather makes must pass muster, and I am the muster passer. Sometimes I have to taste stuff 3 or 4 times to make absolutely sure that it is good enough to be given to the family. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.  :)

That's the short version of what's happening with us as of this moment. These plans are subject to change, depending on the weather and road conditions between Augusta and Eastport. If you've Christmas plans you'd like to share with us, just post them in a comment and I promise to get back to you.

Seven days and counting. Merry Christmas!

That's it. the Most Viewed Post of 2010. Thanks for stopping by and spending part of your New Year's Day with us. Live long and prosper. Happy New Year!!!

A Look Back at September's Best Posts

Things Got Rollin' in September
September found Three States Plus One really getting a solid foot hold in the blogosphere. It seemed like all of the sudden we went from being virtually unknown, which we were, to getting readers from all over the world. We started off well in Texas and Maine, but that was to be expected, because I have many friends and family members in those two states, and, just to be supportive, they'd have read the Uncertain, Texas phone book if I posted it. Silly people. But, I digress. From my point of view as a Blog Owner/Administartor, each time I looked at the Flag Counter that appears on each page of the blog and discovered a new country's flag added to the roster, I began to believe a little more in what I was doing...that people, complete strangers in most cases, actually found value in what I was writing. That said, I am not a writer. I am a more verbal kind of guy. Hell, for over 15 years I was a radio DJ. Listeners depended on my verbal skills in order to digest the information I was feeding them. If you could listen to what I write, I think it would be a lot more effective in getting across the tone and inflection of what I write. Those of you who know me understand what am talking about.

Here's a list of a few of the most popular posts from September:
  • Hungry Maine for Texas Vittles - This was our first "blockbuster" post, receiving over 100 page views. This was a big deal for me. It was validation that this blog thing might work out if I stuck with it long enough.
  • Special Edition - 9/11 - This post was HUGE for me. It was the first time I really went off on any given subject. Dirty words and all, this was a smash. I find it a bit ironic that soon after I posted this one, I began to get a lot of attention from Muslim countries. Go figure. Asswipes.
  • An Almost Clean Getaway - I remember when I wrote this post I was in a hurry to make an appointment or something. Anyway, I found something real fast and scribbled down a post and didn't think twice about it. It was basically a space-filler at the time. But it ended up being one of the most popular posts of the month! Don't ask me why. But thanks!
That's a good start to our look back at the first six months of Three States Plus One. I'll be back in a little while with more bullshit award-worthy literary brilliance and insightful observation. :)

Plus One: Election Leaves Liberals Seeing Red

Where did all the blue go? bwahahahahaha
Well, well, well, what have we here? The map of the USA looks like it's been painted firetruck red, with a touch of blue or purple here and there. That fact brings me to this question: Hey, you Liberals! How does all that Conservative ass taste today, you bunch of peckerwoods? bwahahahahahahaha  I hate to be sore winner...no I don't. For the last six years, Liberals have called Conservatives everything but children of God. The Left's treatment of Conservative women like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman and the O'donnell lady from Delaware has been dispicable to say the least. If you don't agree with them or if you just don't like them, state that fact and move on. There's no need to to try to destroy these women with vitriol and flat out lies about them and their children, for God's sake. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, and Liberalism has been shown to be the ideas of idiots and roundly rebuffed by the voters of the US, will the Conservatives try to destroy the lives of Leftist idiots like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid? No. Because the grown ups have the upper hand now, and they'll be too busy trying to undo the mess that Obambi, Ms. Granny McBotox, Dingy Harry and the rest of those America-hating inbreds have forced on this country through less than scrupulous means against the will of the overwhelming majority of the American people. Oh, they're still gonna bitch and moan about an unfair election, the disenfranchisement of certain ethnic groups or Florida in 2000. That's the way pussies and Liberals operate. They never lose, something's always taken from them. And it's always a Conservative white guy that does it. These Socialist asswipes are the ones who call a slowdown in the growth of something, like entitlement programs, a "cut", even though more money is being spent on said entitlement. When Liberals don't get their way, not only is it someone else's fault, they threaten to hold their collective breath till they are "blue" in the face. (Libs, blue, I made a funny). Just wait until the next Congress convenes and the evil, abortion-hating, white guy Republicans introduce a bill to de-fund, or repeal altogether, ObamaCare. I'm telling you now so you'll be ready, clean all the old programs off your DVR so you'll have lots of space to record the hilarity for posterity. There promises to be temper tantrums of Biblical proportions from the knuckleheads on the Left.

When we woke up this morning, Liberalism had been exposed as the class warfare, government control sham that it is. When we woke up this morning, we woke up to real hope and change. The kind of hope and change that will utilize the exceptionalism that is America and its people, to take this country forward back to its rightful place as the best nation in the history of the World. When we woke up this morning, America was battered, but not beaten by the full frontal assault on her by those who wish she were more like Europe. When we woke up this morning, America herself had breathed a sigh of relief that the constraints placed on her over the last four years, especially the last two, had been removed and she could once again breathe the fresh air of freedom and liberty. When we woke up this morning, the sun shone a little bit brighter as it brought a new day to America.
